Bruce Brodeen of Not Lame Records - Fans of the debut have only smiles ahead of them as the winning formula is repeated here. The kind of power pop that fans of the late 70s skinny tie power pop crave. If you are a fan of the bands on The Rubinoos, Titan Records, early The Romantics, The Flashcubes, Shoes, The Scruffs, The Heats, The Wigs, The Poppees, "Shake Some Action"-era Flamin` Groovies -- well, you have found a slice of heaven here.

- If you loved The Boolevards debut Real Pop, then you are in for another power pop treat. Seventeen more tracks that feature classic 70's power pop composition with that distinct Rickenbacker jangle. "Roxanna" sets the pace, with tight drum fill between choruses and melodic hooks that do the job just perfectly. "Beat The Clock" features two part vocal harmonies & those background oohs and aahs, fans of The Rubinoos are sure to love. "Little Miss Impossible" goes back to the band's Merseybeat roots, mimicking "Twist and Shout" and "Ships Passing" continues to brings to mind that simple nostalgic mid-tempo sound. The production seems better here than on the first album, and the songwriting is just as sharp. A variety of tempos also help make this album better. Fans of both Beatlesque and skinny tie pop genres will enjoy this, so fans of The Romantics, The Flashcubes, Scruffs, The Poppees, Sorrows and The Offbeat can come together on this one.Rare Rockin' Records
- 'More Real Pop' starts where 'Real Pop' left off. Except this time The Boolevards have a little bite to their sweetness. The first cut, "Roxanna" (the longest ever Boolevards song - clocking in at over 4 minutes) sounds like it could be a lost Raspberries song from the early 70s. It's still insanely catchy stuff, but with a little more power pop to the merseybeat flavor. Whereas the shortest cut, "She's The One" is back with the pre-'64 Beatles sound - still a glorious thing! "Beat The Clock" is another great one that will please any fans of The Knack or The Romantics.

Translation: Celebrate!! It really is a major find for fans of this era and will surprise many, many folks. Quite awesome! The spirit of these classic hooks and magical backward glancing threaten to overwhelm the power pop fans, that is how classic the sounds of this album are for fans of this period of `power pop`.The Boolevards are a major find and Extremely Highly Recommended

Eric Sorenson's Jangle On for May 2009 - I must have discovered this disc on CD Baby about the same time that Bruce Brodeen added the disc to the Not Lame online catalog. In the genre of jangle-pop, this is an early contender for CD of the Year! The disc features seventeen songs – none longer than 3:13 – by the pop trio of John and Joe Nowik and Hugh Murphy. Murphy’s Rickenbacker 12-string and Rickenbacker 6-string guitar riffs chime and ring throughout the songs – so much so, that it’s probably unrealistic to choose a favorite track. The clever jewel case graphics include "Nutrition Facts" that cite 100% teenage angst, two part harmony, hooks and melodies, Rickenbackers and background harmonies...and 0% long guitar solos, drum solos, wordy message songs, loud angry vocals and rap and talking. Long may you run, Sirs John, Joe and Hugh.

Rare Rockin' Records – 'Real Pop' is The Boolevards sophomore debut. On this album the lads display a clean cut sophistication approach to the classic merseybeat sound. The Rickenbackers are loud n clear starting from the first powerhouse cut, "Tell Me Baby". Other standout cuts are the sunshiney "It's Great" and Searchers meets Herman's Hermits-esque "Wanna Meet Ya".
